I'm considering dabbling in jet cleaning things around the house using highly pressurized water and am looking for anecdotal information on the internet...

After some initial research I think that I'm looking at gas powered instead of electric.

Probably the right call.
For what it's worth: - I've never had any trouble with gas-powered washers, other than the usual chain-pulling/choke song-and-dance; but, once up and going, they went and went until I turned it off. - I've had two electric ones crap out on me, one within about seven months. Just blow a connection, leak everywhere, etc. - The electric ones never seemed anywhere near as robust/powerful as the gas ones The gas-powered one that I had the most success with was a Craftsman model with a Honda motor(?)...the "Honda" logo was on it, that's all I know. Bear in mind I've only done this type of thing about 6-7 times in my life, so I'm hardly the pressure-washing expert/guru. The above is purely "what's happened to me". |

Electric is for 85 year olds. Gas or nothing.

I've used them before and loved one attachment for going driveways. It was like a big buffer wheel but instead it had sprayers under it. That seemed to make a more uniform cleaning rather than "wand marks".

I bought an electric one probably 10 years ago and its still going strong. The soap/additive tank cracked years ago (my bad) but I never cared enough to replace it.
I pressure wash about 3-4 times a year, so not heavy use, but don't have to worry about engine maintenance or gas and fits nicely in the trunk of my coupe. I did buy a heavy gauge extension cord because I want that torque to get the motor going. Voltage drops tend to heat things up. |

Hate gas washers, and they are way more powerful than almost every residential user will ever need. Electric all the way, our first electric lasted 16 years. We got the brush for cleaning sidewalks/patios and such, for our electric and it takes us less than half the time it took with just the included sprayer head. Best part is that you a) don't piss off the neighbours, and b) don't need to wear ear protection it's so quiet.

At this point I don't own one but if I did I would likely get electric simply due to the general shift away from ICE/gasoline. I still have a trusty fuel/oil chainsaw with a reserve of TruFuel and the mix since I can actually buy pure gasoline in this region.

It's my understanding that PSI means nothing if it isn't accompanied by a sufficient volume of water throughput (current? can we go there?)
I would rather use electric but gas is fine. Trying to figure out which brand using Honda engines is best. ... |

My buddy swears by his Ryobi washer. It's gas-powered with a Honda engine, kinda compact. But I've seen the results. He knocked about 8,000 years of crud, sap, etc. of his deck/driveway and you'd think it (the deck/stairs) was built two months ago.
He's waiting for it all to thoroughly dry and then he's going to put that weather sealer stuff on it before summer fully arrives. I don't know the exact model/specs, but it looks very close to this one: https://www.ryobitools.com/products/...g%3A4%2Fct%3Ar |
