ive got this external firewire drive, then i have my dv camera that connects via firewire aswell, i only have 1 firewire port on the powerbook.

so i tried connecting my external hd via the usb, but when i do that its like my entire powerbook goes completely whacky as far as ports go and it wont recognize anything i put into it (other then the usb mouse)

how i can i somewhat reset the drivers etc for the firewire/usb so it wont confuse the devices ...?

or.. what can i do?

No idea about the drivers issue.

Does the ext HD have a spare FW port? You should be able to daisychain the camera from this - or so I believe.........

(expecting possible wrath from the mac networking guru's if I am wrong - which is very likely!!!)

definitely daisychain your camera and do everything by firewire. You don't want to use a processor-bound data transfer protocol such as USB with digital video.

I keep my iTunes library on an external firewire drive connected to my TiPB and then hook my iPod up to that external drive ("daisychaining" it) ... no problemo.
