Hmm,

I turn on Photobooth, and instead of seeing my pretty self, I see a green screen. When I take a photo, look at effects, everything is just green. First time it happened, just pressed the shutter and I got about two normal frames, in very slow, before it stopped showing anything. Then I try again, and nothing. Try and take a photo- a little green polaroid comes out.

Damn.

Edit: Here is an image of it happening:

Take the green Post-it Note off of the camera hole!

Great. After a restart, the camera won't even restart. When I open PhotoBooth it just has a grey window.

But half the time it says:

I had the happen once, it was either iMovie or QT Pro thinking it was going to record using the iSight since it wasn't in sure otherwise.

Try shutting the computer down, then booting it again. The iSight reacts differently based on whether a reboot or a shutdown has occurred.

Has this happened to you before the 10.4.8 update?

Now Photobooth is doing all kinds of crazy things, like not starting, not responding, sitting there with the little arrow underneath it in the dock, but not doing anything. Garh!

Righto Chaps. Restarted. I tried the iSight in ComicLife (never really noticed it before, looks cool...) and the iSight was working in the capture mode on that.

Then I tried PhotoBooth, fearful for my life. And it worked. Huh. Weird.

Thanks for the help guys,

for anyone who has come across this issue and is searching:

Restart.
Restart again
Reset the PRAM (Cmd+Opt+ P+R on restart chime)
Try it in ComicLife.
Continue Guessing.

Update: 2 mins later.

Seems to be an issue with my printer. I only started using that this evening, and that is when I most recently used iSight. I unplug my printer - works. Plug it back again: Frame rate goes down and iSight goes green.

How the heck are these two connected?

iSight is on a USB bus internally.

Make sure the iSight and printer drivers are up to date. Possibly a PPC driver for the printer triggering Rosetta, and causing issues with the USB handler?

Cheers, K, downloading the driver now. I just plugged it in earlier and it sensed it automatically, so I guess it would have been some problem with my laziness
