This rumor of mini-LED in 2021 and OLED in 2022 is troubling. It seems like too much change too quickly. I don’t recall Apple ever switching foundational technologies like that in rapid succession. User formally known as Sh0eWax |

Which of the two technologies makes the most sense for a professionally-targeted notebook (color, refresh, etc.)? I don't know, I'm asking.
If it's OLED, but there's a reason that can't be done in this first go-around, then the story holds some weight (and the mini-LED thing is a stopgap/placeholder). Otherwise I figure, with a major redesign, the mini-LED will be what's in it for some time to come. All I really know/can tell, re: displays, is "is it Retina or not?" I used to think that was a bunch of blowharding, but having used a Retina phone for a decade-plus, and now a Retina Mac for 18+ months, I know I'd hate to go back. When I look at my Mom's pre-Retina Air or iMac, I can see the dots/pixels just beating me over the head! "Man, I went for years with that clunky-looking stuff?!" |
