I don't know that Apple even needs another event for the rest of the lineup (sans Mac Pro). We know what the chips are now, we know the design language of the new iMac, and even if the Mac mini gets a slight resize with new materials it's still a mini-looking slab. I have a feeling that the larger iMac and new mini will drop via press release, hopefully sooner rather than 2022.

So it goes.

Yeah. It's a common problem, but some of them clearly don't have the practice yet.

I actually thought Srouji was a bit weak this time. Perhaps too excited to show off what he's been doing for a decade and a half, so, fair enough.

Yes.

It really is the first MacBook Pro in a long time that makes me go, "yep, this is a good product with some nice modern features (e.g., 120 Hz, very fast chips) and few unnecessary tradeoffs". It also deliberately makes a few choices I feel the wouldn't have made in the 2016 era: it's a little thicker, it massively increases the battery life because hey why not, etc.

I'm with Paul on this. That low-end 13-inch Pro has been a stupid thing since its inception in 2016. Now that MBP prices have gone way up again, I guess we'll have to suffer through it for longer yet.

Maybe we'll see an M2 mid-range MacBook next year, replacing the 13-inch Pro?

Mostly nailed it. Makes sense that Apple Music finally makes an appearance on stage again.

(edit) OK, so my previous post started with “ I don't buy the AirPods thing. It doesn't fit the theme at all.”, so I didn’t really nail it.

Yeah, well I [mostly][ nailed it too!

Is it just me or was the exaggerated slow walk across the secret CPU laboratory comical?

Yeah.

I got a little worried when they introduced the M1 Pro and said "up to 32 GB", but then they pulled a Steve Jobs "there is one more CPU" hat…

I think that whole segment was a bit much, but OTOH… they kind of deserve it. Apple is performance king for laptops now, and unlikely to be dethroned for a few years.
