1. Welcome to AppleNova!
2. It's iPod, not iPOD (I know, it's the little things) 3. Next time, put a help question in the Genius Bar forum. 4. We're going to need to know a little more about your setup in order to help. What kind of computer, what OS, how much RAM, processor speed, etc. Give the full rundown. 5. Welcome to AppleNova! Come waste your time with me |

Try to do a restore on your ipod for it to take effect...so plug in your ipod, go to applications, utilities, ipod updater, select the most recent installation, click on restore
this might work |

I have Window XP Intel Pentium 4 2 GHz Ram.
When installing iTunes every thing works fine. But after I install it and try to load I get that "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I have already uninstalled it and re-installed it. I went the the help thingy at apple did what they told me to do and that did work. I want to talk to someone that will help me throught it. Thank You |

I have read somewhere that going to a previous QuickTime (7.0.2) version seems to solve this pesky issue.
http://www.apple.com/support/downloa...orwindows.html Give it a shot and let us know if it works. |

it will not let me install Quicktime because it is an older version. And my computer will not let me unistall the new version.

If you are unable to unistall the latest QuickTime, which I think its somehow corrupt in your system, you may want to try this from Microsoft:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/ I am no windows expert at all, but I think that utility will allow you to unistall your current QuickTime and start from scratch. Read all the info there and proceed with caution, as that web page clearly states. |

Hey
Just check the iPod is formatted for Windows(FAT-32). If you got it from the Apple Store it may have been formatted for use with a Mac, which I think may be the default. There is a crib somewhere that tells you what to do if you're using a PC Good luck |

The only resolution is to format the HD and install XP from scratch. Don't do it from a back-up. You will be in the same situation as before. I know. It's a big hassle to do what I'm suggesting, but if you want to enjoy your iPod with your XP, that's the cheapest way. A better but expensive way is for you to get a Mac. |

Make sure you backup all of your music, documents, email, and any other important information you have on your computer, because after you format/reinstall it will no longer be there. Instructions for how to do this depend on the computer manufacturer. Sometimes they send restore disks and sometimes they come with OEM versions of Windows. I would suggest looking through the documentation and disks that came with your computer to find the correct way to do the restore of the original settings. If you have lost the documentation, check the website of the manufacturer.

one cd huh? I can't imagine you had a lot of information. With people asking me for Windows help, I've simply given up trying to fix the problem and I just tell them to reformat.
