I'm betting they're saving those for the event. Those are huge, standalone markets that might warrant extra-special announcement status.

Does Ashley's band start to play one song while she lip-synchs a different one, and then she does a little jitterbug before darting away? I'm curious if her new album will be titled "Dumb Like my Sister".

Obviously not Japan, but I don't think Australia (20 million people) really counts as a "huge" market. We do have a reasonably large local music scene, I suppose.

What can I say?

It ain't peanuts. It's a nice chunk of people. Plus, you're all isolated and alone, with your own laws and ways, setting you apart from Europe or Japan...definitely your own place in the world. So yeah, Australia iTMS is a big deal, IMO.

I agree. After all, Australia has produced some big-time bands. If it were'nt for M$ having an exclusive with AC/DC, I could see a satan-red iPod special edition!

Hmm, like:

• Silverchair (groan);
• Nick Cave;
• Foetus (not big time, but definitely cool);
• INXS (definitely not cool);
• The Sky Hooks;
• The Divinyls!

This still doesn't make us a big market. Apple Australia also give the impression of being amiably incompetent, much of the time.

I guess the biggest problem is the price you have to pay for Apple hardware. Ouch!

INXS has a pretty big fan-base, by the way - even outside of Aussie-land.

Hey, how come you don't type in that cool-ass accent?

Yeah, I know. They still suck. Appropriate name, all told.

The Divinyls on the other hard, were true artists, producing some truly subtle and touching love poetry.

Peter Garrett just got elected to the House of Reps (for Labor, in a safe seat in Western Sydney). He's not on the new shadow ministry though.

It's about time it came to Canada.
I could complain about the unfair exchange rate on Apple Canada's store...but I won't.

Too bad Apple didn't give you that dad-gum Aussie iTMS. Soon enough, I'm sure!

When I saw the list of countries getting iTMS I wanted to hunt down Steve Jobs and wail the piss out of him for leaving out Canada. But now that they've announced iTMS Kanuk in November I no longer feel the need to hunt him down. Hooray for Apple!!!
