For those of you who remember the awesomeness of Myst, the entire trilogy plus new age has been updated for modern graphics. New models, textures, dynamic water etc.

http://cyan.com/games/realmyst-masterpiece-edition/

I am getting this for old time sake once the new Mac Pro arrives. Will be fun to see how much of it I remember and how much feels new to me. I can still remember certain views and rooms. What a cool game.

FWIW: realMyst isn't the trilogy; it's the original Myst in real-time (rather than pre-rendered) 3D graphics. The Masterpiece Edition is a modernization of that.

So, it does not contain Riven, Exile, Revelation or End of Ages.

Heh. I remember Myst. That was one very immersive, fun weekend.

chucker, from the link Moogs provided:

"- All the original Myst Ages plus bonus Rime Age"

Is that not the trilogy, etc?

My other brain is hung like a horse too.

No. realMyst has Myst Island, Stoneship, Mechanical, Selenitic, Channelwood, Rime, a tiny part of D'ni.

Riven has Riven, Age 233, the same tiny part of D'ni, Tay.

Exile has Tomahna, Edanna, Voltaic, J'nanin, Amateria, a tiny part of Releeshahn…

I probably missed something.

I suppose you could call those first three a "trilogy".

In minecraft, they have these portals that lets you travel to other dimensions, just like Myst. There's even a mod that brings teleporting books into the game. It's all very minecraft.

Minecraft.

Minecraft.

There, this thread fits in a bit better.

You're just jealous that you're not playing Minecraft.

Ages refer to locations within the gam But it's all part of one game.* It's a 3D version of the original, in a new engine and actually running on modern OSes in a non-shitty manner. Cyan can't release the trilogy because they don't own the rights to 3 and 4, but they do have a complete pack of all the games they have license to. That hasn't yet been updated with rm:ME though.

*Trust chucker and I to know what the game contains, it's not like between us we run a major fan site and the annual convention, or anything like that.
