I am buying the 2.2ghz MBP, the refurb is $1699, or I can get a new one for $1799 with my student discount. What are your opinions on buying a refurb? Is the 100$ savings worth it? Does anyone have any experiences with refurbs?

Everything being equal, it's physiologically an advantage to buy "new". It's pretty much a wash after that - parts of a refurb have a bit more of a burn-in, but not really or it would be "used" and not "refurb".

I've heard as many good stories as bad. It depends on whether or not you can live with the fact that the unit you get might have some physical defects. With a refurb there can be things like like a scratch on the case etc. Considering the difference is $100, to be honest I'd get a new one.

Yeah, this would not be an issue if I didn't have the student discount ($1699 vs $1999). I think I'm just going to go with the new one. Thanks PB PM.
