So, since there's been some confusion lately on how to go about being a good neighbor and not building on anyone else's toes, I just want to make this area perfectly clear:

There will be 9-10 structures here. Most of them large (50-100 blocks tall), one extra large (~150). Also, this is a Creative Mode island.

I'm still only going to use Creative Mode for community projects, myself, but until I can get 13topia and all my legit loot moved over I'm going to blow a wad (or 9-10) on this piece of land.

So it goes.

Sigh......

For whoever that decided to start building (circle) on the southern shore of my island (large square). Please move.

So I decided to go exploring and foolishly died twice. Since I don't my way around very well, I didn't know how to get back to where I was, so if you find random stuff laying around it might be mine.

While looking around on the map I saw a large interesting-looking area to the far south of our starting city that had been explored but not torched. There only thing nearby is a small farm next to a chasm. Apologies for the large image:

I was wondering who that farm belonged to, and also if anyone had already claimed the large marked area? Mountainous areas seem to be in short supply in our new world, so I'd be surprised if it hadn't, but I just thought I'd check.

and i guess i've known it all along / the truth is, you have to be soft to be strong

Sachmo moved there with Etnie IIRC. I don't know of anyone claiming the area of big interest though.

Here's the image of what exactly we're going to use. Over in that area it's Etnie, ggnorekthx, and myself trying to work on a few large projects. I got that small area set up just to get us a base of operations. I know we're going to use up to the edge of the lakes/ponds in the big yellow circle but that's all. I marked a bunch of stuff in that area just to be safe. But yeah man help yourself to the eastern side of the ponds I doubt we'll build on the other side of the lakes/ponds over there. I was exploring it and it looked really nice, so if you don't mind neighbors go for it. =D

delphi, you may want to check out just north (left in your picture) of that location. I found a similar taiga mass that you were building on that is currently fair game and close by.

Check the new map.

Just wanted to let people know that I've set camp a bit west of the Dirt Needle in the snow area. Hopefully you can see my hut there. I've mined some right next to my hut and will probably search some on the other side of the lava pit if anyone else hasn't already.

Let me know if I'm too close to anyone.

PS: it is my very strong intention to hunt down and destroy any 1x1 "tard towers" like this dirt needle. If you must build one for surveying purposes, then please a: take it back down again and b: make it out of sand or gravel so it can be destroyed from the ground in case you fall off.

They're monstrously ugly, though, so really, don't make them at all.

That dirt needle is there to remind me where the zombie spawner is. It will be changed to something different, sometime. I just havn't had time to log on recently.

If you want something with more relief, try south of grey's island in Adventureland.

Brad, new plugin idea: Have the current players on list show AFK status. I mapped mine to the "?" but I think it originally was another key.

/list (or /who) should show the AFK bits as applicable for players.

So, I didn't partake too much in the CM test tonight since I was so focused on finishing the exchange exterior, but I filled my 3 empty slots with stacks of TNT. bobsky: they are in your portable hut in one of the cobble chests. Hopefully they're enough to last you until the weekend.

So it goes.

Definitely hold off on updating until we're given the thumbs-up from the Powers That Be.

Meanwhile, highlights from the version history (comments in parentheses are mine):
Quote:
-Cats will now sit on chests and beds, purposely preventing players from using them. (Yep, just like real life.)
-Fixed TNT ghosts in multiplayer. (FINALLY.)
-Glass can again be picked up using Silk Touch enchanted tools. (I wonder if this works on panes, too?)
-When you type a full bar of chat, then backspace, you crash your client. (Odd.)
-Snow Golems die in snow biomes when it's snowing. (Because that makes perfect sense.)

Also my new favorites:

New sandstone textures and variable wood textures (by tree type).

I love the new wood blocks. I tweeted to jeb a few months or so ago about adding a lighter wood when crafting birch, so I'm happy it came to pass (not saying it was my tweet, just that it was an obvious thing that they finally implemented). Hoping half-slabs and stairs follow eventually.

So it goes.
