i would like to get 1+gig or Ram in my PB (when i get it) but the apple store charge so much for ram, is there anyway i can get ram for my PB without going through apple store.
for example if i buy some off ebay what should i be looking for? any particular brand or specs?

thanks so much for the quick reply

one thing i'm not to sure about after reading that post was, is there a difference between ram for laptops and ram for desktops...like size maybe? and if i understood correctly it doesnt matter what brand i get? this is mainly cause i'm looking to get ram from ebay but want to be sure i buy something that will work.

one more thing, just as an example would something like this be ok?

I would be inclined to avoid ebay for this kind of purchase, if you are expecting a decent return policy in case the RAM they ship is defective. You can check for prices over at dealmac's dealram website. I'm somewhat partial to Crucial, but most of the places dealmac lists are generally reliable. (Dealmac is usually pretty good at filtering out shady businesses from their database.)

There is a difference between RAM for laptops and desktop machines.

Personally I would go to crucial.com to at least find out what you need as they have quite a good guide to determine what RAM you need. Whether you buy from them or not it should clear up what you need.

Another good one to consider is Other World Computing. They have good prices, reliability, and service.
