Hallo everybody,

is there a way to control/view if the SMS is working? Is there a program in the system prefs for example?

Thanks C.

Google "powerbook motion sensor"

I think you'll find more information then you want.

I don't think so. This is a very low-level hardware feature and would be like asking for a UI to control your power supply's voltage.

Lets combine answers.

View if it's working, yes it's possible, check out google like I said or the /. article linked.

To control it? No probably not possible, I really doubt it's software controlled anyways, it is most likely just a sensor that is one way...like a thermometer, you can read it, but you can't change the temp without some thermite in your computer

Hi,

thanks everybody. I read the /. article and downloaded an application that shows the spatial position of your PB.
The only possible thing the user can do is turn SMS on/off thru pmset. In my IBM the motion sensor can be tuned at your will.

Regards, C.

For what purpose? I don't understand why you would ever have/want to change what it being output. Especially since it is used solely for the shock protection isn't it?

Well, you could use it as an interface to play games. For instance.

I heard about a game for that, but seriously, what game are you going to want to hold 6lbs up in the air for any amount of time.

There is another one.. It is called Norton Utilities.
You can actually Create Bad Sectors without picking up your machine.
I guess it is a 'Hands Free' version.
