Most people go through life not knowing how it will end for them. Not me. In fact, at 4:00 today I take possession of the machine that will inevitably lead to my horrific death and dismemberment.

My murderer:

Of course I will do my best to slow down Death's arrival. I was just talking with my buddy Ben Roethlisberger this morning on his cell, and he was telling me how important it was to wear a really good helmet.

I wore this around the shop for 15 minutes yesterday, and it felt pretty damn good:

Too bad it's like $700. The 15% off I get on whatever I buy today along with the bike will help.

My old helmet still looks fine, but after the little hitting-a-seagull-in-the-head-at-150km/hr incident on my last bike, I'm sure it's brain injury saving capabilities are a little dimished. Time for a new lid.

Now I just have to pick up a new pair of boots so this doesn't happen to me. Well, on second thought, I'll just promise not to do any one-legged wheelies.

*sigh* 6 hours to go. Like I'm going to be able to get any work done today.

I'll post some real pics tonight if I don't highside on the offramp on the way home from the dealer.

But with a bike that fast he can ride down to the US, fill up on our cheap gas and cheap women, and be back in Canada before anyone is the wiser.

He's like a two wheeled international ninja.

My wife wasn't too impressed when she asked what colour I chose. I said it was "dead tissue black with dried blood red accents".

Wow!! I thought it was only 4 days out of the year. You mean the ice sheet has pulled back that far. Man, global warming is a bitch.

Nice bike. Enjoy the hell out of it.

Oh, and be sure to sign up to be an organ donor.

very nice bot...and the shoei helmet is top notch...

if you want to save a few bucks, the scopion 400 and 700 are very good helmets

i have been thinking of adding a m/c to my collection...but i like the older style bikes...so i might get a triumph t-100...just like the flat seat and spoked wheels look...but i'm old school like that

If it's not more bike than you need, you're not trying hard enough.

Oh and murbot... I called ahead and ordered the custom pink paint job you wanted. It'll be ready for you to slap that Hello Kitty sticker on it.

My other brain is hung like a horse too.

The GT1000 is perfect imo. Like you, I've got old-school styling sensibilities, but I'd like something a little more modern (ie: working ) as well. My girl friend (not girlfriend) is a Ducati rider, and she's been putting the pressure on me to pick one up (not that I need much).

So it goes.

Yeah, mister "I'm a safe rider, I don't need a helmet" has multiple facial fractures, including his jaw, lost several teeth, had a large gash on the back on his head, and has minor injuries to his knees.

A friggin' helmet, and he'd only have the bruised knees. What a retard.

Is his career in danger, or is he expected to fully recover?

Whichever, he's an idiot. It doesn't MATTER how "safe" of a rider he is...all it takes is one cell-phone-using, radio-knob-dialing oblivious numbnut to instantly undo a lifetime of "safe riding".

It's amazing he's not dead.

"Ben, you've just won the Super Bowl, what are you going to do next?"

"GGhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaauurgh!"

Sorry, I have some sympathy here, because after all, it was an accident. But it's always an accident...., still it won't matter to your wife, husband, children, parents etc. that you opted to not wear a helmet because, "there ain't no law." Go take a walk around a neurotrauma unit someday, and maybe you'll revisit the topic. Same goes for headfirst diving. May as well protect your brainmeat.

That's a nice cycle, no doubt about it. But the HP/weight ratio is simply out of control. I'd guess only a fraction of a fraction of riders out there could handle this beast. And as somebody else suggested, Brittney Spears is coming the other way, and Sean Preston's riding shotgun.

Bikes? I've got some mean bikes... here's one of my favorites:

Gary Fisher Gitche Gumee with custom handlebars and seat, plus some custom gear ratio tuning:

This baby is my go-anywhere ride across town (when I'm not in a hurry)

Don't forget the most important part:

When I win the lottery, this will be among my first "go nuts and treat myself" purchases.

In metallic copper-y orange, of course.

It's TOTALLY me: retro/vintage, simple and straightforward, looks like nothing else out there and doesn't look like it's "trying too hard".

Like someone stuck an engine under an old Schwinn.

Am I the only one that think that looks like a 50's Schwinn with a motor??

Damn, all it needs are handlebar tassles...

Get the red version and it'll be Pee Wee Herman's bike (which due to all the stuff on it, looked as it it did have a motor).

My wife works in the hospital OR and they call these things donorcycles. One particular organ harvesting session was from some guy who got drunk, hopped on his bike and head-oned a Dodge Ram pickup. My wife knew it was a Dodge Ram because they removed the hood ornament from the guy's face. She has other donorcycle stories, but I always remember this one, especially when the "It's a hemi" commercial comes on TV.

That right there was the stupid bit. Hopefully he didn't hurt anyone else while removing himself from the gene pool.
