When I was leaving your Flaming Mountain at night a short while ago, I dropped some torches on the way to RowdyScot's dirt ranch. That plus the map above will hopefully give you good direction.

Aarrgg... I've found more new bugs in beta. Floor plates don't open doors and only close them half the time. And it looks like the new client tries reauthenticating with the mothership periodically during play, but since mc.net is so flakey, it just boots you out of the game.
edit: Okay, not sure what's going on, but restarting the server again appears to have fixed the floor plates. But at least leaf decay is supposedly fixed. No more need for controlled burns! Something's really fucked with the beta server. All sorts of timing issues causing glitchy behavior like the aforementioned broken floor plates as well as blocks reappearing after being mined.
*shrug* I'm taking the server off while I try diagnosing. Might be nothing we can do until notch patches this. The quality of this board depends on the quality of the posts. His twitter also seems to suggest that he didn't start implementing the switch to beta until later this morning. I know if I was in charge, I would of had a somewhat stable beta release all ready to go before I flipped the switch, but I'm not the best person to be talking about this kind of stuff. Quote:

Yeah, beta server is unusable at this point. Not only are there odd bugs, but it is *constantly* feeding a wide stream of data to the client. I'm seeing constant 200-300 kb/sec downloading on my Mac client here, even after the initial map load, just standing still. Previously the update stream was an order of magnitude smaller with occasional bursts as you walked around.
Sorry guys. Looks like we're at the whim of notch on this one. I'm shutting it down until the next patch. The quality of this board depends on the quality of the posts. Eh, it happens. In the meanwhile, I'm going to go throw eggs at mobs in my single-player world.
EDIT: A few things I've noticed after playing Singleplayer for a few minutes: There's now a rollover in your inventory that tells you what each item is called: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/412263/Scree...21.59%20PM.png A lot of items have new/official names: • Watches -> Clocks • Lightstone (Dust) -> Glowstone (Dust) • Hellstone/Bloodstone -> Netherrack (misspelling of NetherROCK, probably) • Stone Half-Steps -> Stone Slabs • Minecart Tracks -> Rails • Gunpowder -> Sulphur • Redstone Dust -> simply Redstone Previously, if you left items in the 2x2 crafting square in your inventory when closing that window, they stayed there, allowing you to have 4 extra inventory slots. Now, that square acts like workbenches, in that items left in there get thrown when closing the inventory. I'll let you guys know if I find anything else. Ahhhh!!! This game is taking over my life! I play for hours... and when I stop, I thinking about what I will do next! Good thing Brad had to kick me off to upgrade and semi-good thing it's too buggy to br played now...
Anyway, my viewing platform has been completed and SpecMode graciously helped ms connect to the SkyWay. Come take a dive off my platform! Loads of fun. And I have newly rennovated Glass Blowing Design Haus. It's where I go at night to think of ideas and craft tools and blocks. It has 8 furnaces built-in to the floor and glass blocks in front of them so you can still see them burn. You gotta see it. I haven't needed to get all 8 furnaces going at once, but it should be cool. Everyone is welcome to use the furnaces and everyone is semi-welcome to my stash. Just don't take my diamond tools and armor please! Also. There are Lincoln Memorial like steps now that knew go over the lava pit. Need to make I pretty still. |
