This post at ars got me thinking: http://episteme.arstechnica.com/eve/...1#589009617831
I'm surprised no one there seemed to have thought of the obvious on the secure payments... I mean, you can buy iTunes Store downloads directly, right? iTunes one-click + micropayments + the store has an account with Apple. This is extensible - Apple says to any store/coffee shop/restaurant with a WiFi connection: send us your menus, we send you an order as it comes in, and take care of the payment process. Sound familiar? It's their deal with the labels. Apple ends up being the bank for virtual cash that everyone has been expecting/hoping for. Of course, they'd have a problem with these folks... http://www.theapplebank.com/ |

Oh no. Oh no no no.
It's already easy enough for me to spend money with cash, and easier still with a credit card. I don't even want to know how spendthrifty I'd be if I could add a Strawberry Banana Parfait to my Tall Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino Créme-based at the touch of a button. and i guess i've known it all along / the truth is, you have to be soft to be strong |

I'm sure it'll become more common. Now that more of these devices are getting into the hands of people (more affordable iPhones and an iPod line that has Wi-Fi), Apple will probably partner with more outfits and do things like this.
