As to my other thread about the curious garageband problem, I think that the solution is reformatting the drive into Mac Os format, instead of MS-DOS format. So I am trying to do that, but everything I do... it fails, saying it had an error erasing the drive. I can reformat it into MS-DOS all day long, but as soon as I try any of the Mac Os formats, it errors. Any ideas?

Are you trying to do this using the erase tab in disk utility?
Try using the partition tab instead, and create a new partition. |

Yup. I Actually just solved it. Not only did I have to make a partition, but specifically I had to make it a 'free space' partition, THEN do the formatting after that. Anyway, All correct now.

I had the same problem 2 days ago. I even returned a drive to the store and bought another brand before I realized it was my fault...
when you try to erase the disk, it uses whatever partition table you used last in the options under the patition tab. So if you try to erase a disk to HFS, you get that error message when MBR is selected. Choose one of the other options and it will work.... |
