I realize I should probably know the answer to this sort of thing, but faxing is just something I've not done in ages (since my Panther days?). Anyway, there's an interesting job in the paper that I'd like to send my resumé to, but I don't have easy, handy access to a dedicated fax machine.

I'm currently on Leopard, connected with Ethernet cable to Comcast high-speed Internet.

Is there anything in Leopard that I'm missing or don't know about that might make this possible?

What are my (free and easy) options? I stress the "free and easy" because, if necessary, I can drive to my Mom's office. But it's not that convenient, and surely I've got options and workarounds available right here from my modern, full-featured Mac.

Googling 'fax online' might help.

Ah...I wasn't even sure about that stuff. Didn't know. I thought there was a way I could do it from the iMac directly, straight to the number. But I guess it doesn't work that way.

Not over the intertubes, no. Requires a modem connected to a POC line to do directly to the other end via a phone number.

That's cool. I thought there might be technical barriers like that.

I just used that FaxZero site (up to three pages per fax, twice a day), and it's perfect.

Most everything I apply for is e-mail or website-based, so the occasional old-school fax requirement is met by this site. I got an e-mail confirmation, so it went through.

Mods, close/delete this thread at will. I was coming into it with a lot of ignorance that doesn't really need to be on display for all to see in the coming days and weeks...

I've used efax for a couple of years and while it's not the greatest service in the world, it works for what I need. I believe there's a free option if you don't care about your fax area code.

If it's not red and showing substantial musculature, you're wearing it wrong.

I've heard this is possible if you have a 7200 rpm SSD.
