Does anyone know what the special desktop launcher is that the retail stores use on all their macs? It's a rounded box in the middle of the screen with four or so icons that you can click and launch stuff.

That is an in-store only function AFAIK. I assume that you are aware of "Cmd-Tab" and, on another tack, Quicksilver and LaunchBar...?

It is a custom application that they designed. I downloaded it from the store to see how they made it and it is a pretty simple and nothing special at all.

I'd say that the fact that it's simple makes it special.

What more would it need to do, anyway?
