So it's award time of year, and while the celebrities stuff their plastic selves into questionable fashion for a chance to win golden icons, the folks at Yahoo UK have named some of their winners in the Search Find of the Year 2005 contest, many of which will therefore be up for "People's Choice Awards" on Feb. 2nd.

Included are a variety of categories (you can click this link to read the BBC story about it or the original listing from Yahoo UK), but of the few I've checked out that weren't overloaded since the announcement, some are fun. The Yahoo link above includes not only their winners, but other finalists, honourable mentions, and details on past winners, judges, etc. They've also got a category for "Best Office Attachments of the Year". No word on the wardrobe designers, or red carpet interviews and fondlings, though.

And the Yahoo UK Search Find of the Year 2005 Winners are:

Best Celebrity website - Greeting the 500 - blog of a celebrity worshipper trying to win a bet
Best Community website - Text Treasure - Save your text messages... forever. Not my style, but powered by Apple WebObjects technology.
Best Educational website - Woodland Grange Primary School - not their first award
Best Entertainment website - Liveplasma - overloaded and offline at the moment
Best Innovative website - Net Disaster - Destroy the web! Target pages with graffiti, meteors, vomit, or the almighty's anger... fun!
Best TV website - Derren Brown - "illusionist and 'mind control' magician"... lots of Flash used, (if you like that sort of site).
Best Travel website - Transport for London - maps, schedules, updates... getting around london made easier.
Best Weird and Wonderful website - The Cloud Appreciation Society - pretty pictures, text, and all things cloud-related
. < * And yes, Brad, www.stuffonmycat.com did make the list as a candidate. >

Also of note from another source for those who didn't find enough small furry animals to ooh and ahh over amongst those listed...
Best furry animals imagery Cute Overload - a bit saccharine, but sure to melt the hearts of any who can't resist pix of puppy/kitten/otter/bunny/etc

So... got your own recommendations?

Personally, I laughed at the clickable almighty anger overlaid on the Pat Robertson site... but it's been a slow morning.
