When I connect to a shared folder on my PC (Win XP) it prompts me for a password but whatever I enter in the password box it still allows me access and I have a password set on my user account on my PC. Any ideas why?

Thanks

I'm not that into the finer points of Windows XP sharing, but in truth, this is a Windows XP-specific question, and not really a Mac question.

Anyway, I'd guess that the fact that the folder is "shared" means it doesn't need a password to access it. Now, if you wanted to access the equivalent to your home folder in XP, you'd probably still need to enter the password for that user.
