That is pretty cool. Is that the heat shield falling away at the beginning?

Watched the JPL crew talking about the initial test results today on C-Span (during lunch). Pretty boring but all the same pretty cool. Showed some spectrum analysis from ChemCam of the first rock they zapped.

Scientists claim to have discovered something "Earthshaking" on Mars!!!!!!

And they'll tell us in several weeks.

Don't worry.

Some are saying that's just hype.

I can guess what is is already potentially. Evidence of a proto-Earth-vs-Mars collision (that ended up creating our moon)? Maybe I'm taking earth-shaking too literally? Maybe they found one of these, fossilized:

New Mars mission, Old thread. *bump*

ExoMars, the joint European - Russian Mars Lander/Orbiter is about to launch in Kazakhstan.

Launch window starts about 08:30 GMT 14 Mar 2016 ... then a series or orbit raising energy boosting manoeuvres before it leaves Earth orbit about 12 hrs later for its 7 month trip to Mars

Http://ESA.int ought to have links, as should Livestream... lemme see if I can find a quick one

Go Go orbiting Gas analyser Gadget, and Lander Gadget!
