Yeah I know, but daisy-chaining my portable drives (which are used for off-site backup) just feels wrong.

True, I don't like it either to be honest, but when one is all you've got you don't have much choice. In all honesty I wish Apple would get with the times and give us e-SATA, or adopt USB3 early, and be done with it.

I'm thinking Apple has lagged on updating the Mac Pro because they are working hard on that LightPeak thing.
If that's the case, LP ports will simply use a USB3 adapter.

Of course, now that I've said that, Apple will probably rev the Pros today, just to prove me wrong.

I've not heard a peep about LightPeak in a while now, so it's hard to say if it is even ready yet. In any case, I think Apple should give us more options, FW800 is getting a little dated.
