I work for a church that is looking to switch from Word to Adobe InDesign for making church bulletins. As part of that, I am thinking of recommending we buy a Mac to run it on since they tend to handle graphics programs better. Would we be able to get away with using a Mac Mini or e-mac?

Personally, I would go with the Mac Mini. I don't own one, but I have used them at the Apple Store. If you also get the 20 inch apple screen it is more expensive, but worth it. I just don't really like eMacs...

Given the cpu speed of the mini or the eMac either would be fine - as long as you have a good amount of RAM.
My sister runs InDesign just fine on her 1Ghz PowerBook and I believe she has 1.2Gig of RAM. That might be overkill, but after buying a 1Gig stick of RAM recently she is very happy with the improved performance. |
