You knew it was coming. Just a matter of time. That sentence could only ever exist in 2023!

A YouTuber has been jailed for six months for deliberately crashing his plane for views, and then lying about it to US investigators.

Well, of course. Morons gonna moron.

Trevor Jacob, 30, posted the video of the plane crash in December 2021, implying it was an accident. He ejected from the plane - selfie stick in hand - and parachuted down to land.

I'd expect nothing less.

The plane crashed into the Los Padres National Forest 35 minutes after take-off. Jacob hiked to the site and recovered the footage. He then uploaded the video entitled "I crashed my airplane" to YouTube on 23 December, which contained a promotion for a wallet company, prosecutors said.

Well, at least it was TOTALLY worth it. A wallet company?! World-changing, cutting-edge stuff! Right up there with all those crazy-ass tactical flashlights that get the Internet/"no Bud Light"/Ted Nugent Appreciation Society crowd so worked up.

Some viewers were sceptical of the crash, noting that Jacob was already wearing a parachute and made no attempt to land the plane safely.

Well yeah, and the whole "selfie-stick" thing. The weapon of an attention whore, not as clumsy or random as a blaster. A more uncivilized weapon for a more uncivilized age.

Southern California, as we know, catches on fire several times a year, if you just look at some dry brush wrong, let alone tossing out your dumb-ass lit cigarette while driving through the canyons or holding a neighborhood fireworks party on July 4. Doesn't take much, after 8-9 months of no rain and the sun baking every tree/bush into a matchstick! What if this guy's plane had exploded and caused a big fire on impact and burned down half the mountain/county? Would he get a little more than six months? I would hope, but you never know. SoCall, being HQ/ground zero for attention-whoredom and general brainlessness, so the powers that be/legal system might be willing to cut him a little slack.

Honestly, at this point, I'm just waiting for the TikTok "Hand Grenade Swallow" Challenge.

I would hope not. He's obviously got a terminal case of Attention Whoreitis, and doesn't need to be in a position to do something like that again. The stakes always go up, so his next stunt would be "I'm gonna bail out over downtown Anaheim after I point this thing directly at Tomorrow Land...let's see how good Disney's park security/medical personnel really are!"

Even in those mountains, there's wildlife and, surely, some endangered rock frog, sand wasp or some neon blue rattlesnake that there's on three of in the entire world. Where are all the people climbing up his butt for that? They never miss an opportunity to be outraged/offended on behalf of wildlife, bugs, trees, flowers.

There could've been a 5-member Sasquatch family up there that he wiped out with his plane. We'll never know, but the object of aviation is to keep your plane in the air and land it correctly on a known, authorized airstrip/runway, not deliberately fling it into the wilderness for a "stunt". It's a miracle he didn't set about 40 gazillion acres on fire, although I suppose, in January, it's not as dry/dangerous.

But still. He's an idiot. That's what I'm trying to convey here. For all the wrong, dumb reasons...social media likes/attention.

I think it's going to be a rude, slap in the face at some point, those six months. I think the idea was to maybe scare it out of him a little, any desire for a future repeat.

I ain't ever going to jail! I could probably be okay with it if that wasn't part of it. I like solitude, alone time, etc. But I don't wanna have to dread shower time or sundown or whatever.

I'd go to jail/prison if I could be given isolation and kept away from all the predators and savages, people in there for murder, rape and true, serious hard crime. I'd be in on jaywalking or using an expired coupon at Subway. Catch up on a bit of reading and maybe sharpen my basketball skills.

For the first time in about 18 months, I checked out thesmokinggun.com’s homepage. I kinda wish I hadn’t. The three main stories cover golden shower + gunplay, necrophilia and a domestic violence incident centered around linked sausage.

These people vote. And procreate.

To my surprise, only one incident (the sausage abuse) took place in Florida. I would’ve bet good money all three did.

They’re just too weird, gross and sad to post here. On a positive note, there are people out there who’ll pay strangers $300 to piss on them. Hell, I’d do it for free, most people I know/encounter.

Much like “Cops”, anytime I’m feeling a bit “off” or displeased with my life in any real way, I can always swing by TSG, skim a few articles and realize I’m doing just fine. I’m not being arrested for domestic incidents,?gunplay, weird-ass fetishes, getting it on with a corpse, etc. I’m doing just fine, thank you.

Nope. Not anymore. With the nyernet, social media and all. No borders, no private rooms, etc. it’s just all out there. I think it’s just an arrest/mugshots/silly news gathering site? I’ve looked at it over the years because it seems to gather the true crazy stuff under one roof. They have a section of funny/quirky mugshots. until this morning it has been a good 18 or so months because, who needs it? What I don’t know won’t bother me. Someone had texted me a funny link/story that went to that site. So it wasn’t even me! Unprompted, I probably would’ve gone the rest of this year and all of 2024 in blissful ignorance.

If you ever get arrested/pic taken, you should maybe put a little thought into your appearance/expression, because that’s forever. Ask Nick Nolte.

Just look at the camera and muster the best smile you can, I guess…try not to look deranged, lost, hobo-ish, etc.

When a place has given you the boot more than 2-3 times (all for the same reasons/behavior), maybe step back, look at yourself and take a hint? Worry less about insulting/baiting total strangers (from the safety of your keyboard, no less) and maybe work on/fix your own damaged, unhinged shit? So a forum/site can stand having you around? Ain't my fault you don't know how to act around others, in public.

Just thinking out loud. It'll never reach who it should, unfortunately.

But yeah, we're down to the misfit toys.

I think, at one time, TSG seemed more of a "serious" type of site, of news/jail booking reports, mugshots, etc. But, along the way (and with the demise of Cops) they understood the true entertainment value of "moron/dipwad criminals", and have veered over more to the "weird & wacky" news centered around stupid people doing bad, illegal stuff (we don't hear about the smart ones, as they typically know how to not get arrested/booked).

It's good for the occasional chuckle, but, more often than not, it's just too crazy, weird, etc. to swim in daily. I don't wanna know what some folks get up to in their spare time/off hours!

When you try to rob your local shopping mall (the entire mall) after 14 Budweisers, you're gonna wind up on TSG. Use your head next time. When you're the poster boy for "Dumb Criminals Caught on Video", consider another gig.
