7.6 MB, and as always with security updates, a restart is required.

I haven't installed it yet, but heres the skinny:

Security Update 2004-09-07 delivers a number of security enhancements and is recommended for all Macintosh users. This update includes the following components:

CoreFoundation
IPSec
Kerberos
libpcap
lukemftpd
NetworkConfig
OpenLDAP
OpenSSH
PPPDialer
rsync
Safari
tcpdump

For detailed information on this Update, please visit this website: http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n61798

Not for me. The page worked on a non-updated Mac, then broke after the update. Same applies for several other Mac users in my buddy list.

Another buddy is having problems with ARD Agent as well, though it's behaving for me.

i'm guessing whether or not the site works is related to whether or not you're using safari.

Considering that update only updates Safari, I figured it wasn't necessary to identify which were affected.

BestBuy.com broke for me after the update (using Safari). Changing the User Agent to MSIE 6.0 (via Debug menu) allowed it to load.

Also after the update, Outlook Web Access stopped working. To be fair, OWA only "kind of" worked before the update - it was oddly formatted in Safari - and Microsoft only intends it to be used via IE.

All in all, I'm happy Apple is keeping on top of security updates, but a little disappointed about the negative effect on Safari compatibility.

Well that is amusing, because, of course, MS is not further developing IE for Mac.

Regardless, I have found that Outlook Web Access – something I have to use a lot – works fastest and renders nicest in Mozilla. Unfortunely, however, Mozilla has a problem allowing me to attach documents to messages generated in OWA – that’s a real limitation. (I suppose that I should inform the Mozilla people of this so that they can attempt a fix.) Oddly, this problem also occurs in IE for Mac.

I have taken to using Safari for OWA: it does not render OWA as quickly or as nicely as Mozilla, but does allow me to attach documents. If this Security Update breaks Safari on OWA, that would be a real problem for me – thanks for the warning.

I use OWA all the time and have not had any issues with this update (using Safari 1.2.3 (v125.9))

Hmmm, now OWA works for me as before Possibly a problem between the chair and keyboard?

In any case, that's good news.

I still need to switch the Safari user agent to MSIE 6.0 to correctly view best buy and circuit city.
