In about 15 minutes or so, and rerun again in two hours.

I'd guess that the eBay value of one of his business cards just went up.

Wow. I had never seen a Wozniak interview before. I felt uncomfortable and embarrassed for him the whole time.

Yeah, it's hard to watch the entire thing without wincing a couple of times. Definitely not the most "TV-friendly" personality, but it's Woz!

Haha! Got a kick out of it. First time I have seen Colbert react this way. Seems like he didn't know how to react at some points. But I loved the clip, thanks for the link.

Oh, almost forgot. Woz is definitely crazy.

I must have seen/read enough Woz over the years that it didn't embarrass me.... just Woz being Woz. Colbert did a good job keeping the ball moving...

i was put off a bit when he said "did you really invent the computer?" woz's genius comes from his oddity. normalcy didn't catapult the computer into trillions of homes across the universe.

but it was kinda odd how woz ducked the "why aren't you on itunes" question. but yea, it makes sense that he doesn't want to get into all that.

and the fact that woz wrote a book on jokes and couldn't remember a single one. that sums it up right there. thats the mind of higher thought.

True.

Woz does set the standard for the geek/dork thing. I mean, the rest of us have the pretense, but he delivers geek in a very profound way: the social discomfort, fascination and expertise in what many would consider the most inane stuff...

I heard him being interviewed on National Public Radio this afternoon. Only heard a few minutes of it, but what I heard was fascinating.

I was driving and got to my destination, or I would have listened to the whole thing.

The interview should show up as a transcript in a few days on the NPR site.

Honestly, in the five minutes I heard, he didn't sound weird or awkward at all. He sounded open, outgoing, and forthcoming. But like I said, I only caught five minutes worth, so... who knows how the rest turned out.

Yeah, he was on the beginning of Science Friday, which is usually interesting. Woz was much better on NPR than he was on Colbert.

Unfortunately I wouldn't be surprised if it was because of Jobs.

Thanks for pointing it out FFL - and for the link Shades of Blue.

I like Woz, from the little I actually *know* of him, and I respect his contribution to the field of personal computing. I'm actually looking forward to buying his book too.

However, when I watched that video, I couldn't help but think back to what fakesteve said on his blog ...

You're playing Segway polo and wearing those goofy-ass sunglasses with the MP3 player built into the stem. And hitting passersby with errant shots. Dude, you need to do something with your life.
Not saying I agree, but some of those phrases have just stuck in my mind.

No, they are still friends, and Woz still gets invited to special events. But Jobs has been very defensive and has overreacted several times in regards to how he is portrayed in books.

I believe an entire publisher's books were pulled off the Apple retail store shelves when they went ahead with publishing a book that in some ways negatively portrayed Jobs.

It just wouldn't surprise me.

I'm reading iCon now; so far, it's not that great. I read Infinite Loop a while back, though, and that was very detailed and interesting. It covers the history of Apple up through Apple buying NeXT. I'd highly recommend it for anyone who's interested.

I thought Apple Confidential (2.0) was pretty balanced. But now we're getting OT... maybe.

[OT] iCon was average I thought. I preferred Jim Carlton's "Apple" and Alan Deutschman's "The Second Coming of Steve Jobs". [/OT]

Woz has also promoted his book with a lunch interview with the Financial Times, published yesterday.
