Hi - I have been using a MS/PC for the last 15 years. I am tired
I am seriously considering making the move to an iMac. My home computer is only used for email / Quicken / surfing / home banking. I have gone through the list of software I use and have found the equivalent replacements and have experience with VMware so I know I can get an XP VM running if, God help me, I need it for some reason. I don’t play games (I use the Xbox360 for that). I do have a small wireless (Dlink) network at home and a Linksys NSLU2 for network storage (stock firmware, I mentioned I was tired right?) What have I not considered? What do I need to be aware of? Has any one make the switch recently that can share their personal experience – Good, Bad and Ugly? I am thinking of waiting until after MacWorld to see what announcements are made, if there is going to be an update to the iMac I want to get the latest one. To give you a little more color – Until recently I worked for a PC manufacturer for the last 10 years (The one that rhymes with hell) and am even an MCSE, so this is a true religious conversion. Any advice much appreciated, Thanks, Glenn |

Well it seems like you have your finger on the button pretty well. I think an iMac would be great for you, however if on the off chance you have a nice screen, you could be a perfect candidate for mac mini?

It's awsome. Seriously you can't really regret it. With leopard around the corner, it's gonna be even greater. If I was you, I would be waiting after MacWorld (so close now...). The good:
There is probably other bad things but I can't think of them right now so they are not really annoying. Anyway, there is really not many things XP can do that OSX can't. Hope you'll switch soon MP (Switched in september) Dave Mustaine :"God created whammy bars for people who don't know how to solo." |

You should be set, looks like you did your homework.......
I wouldn't go with a very max-ed out imac, for your need, looks like a lower end one should do........ Welcome to AN If you can read this this, please send to an admin, i am blocked and cant post.... |

Welcome to AN
The Good Mac Stuff: Just too much to mention. The Bad Mac Stuff: Needs support for right click by default. The finder is FUBAR. That's it! The thing that got me was that I was waiting for this enormous revolution to hit me when I switched, and it didn't and I was disappointed. It's just when you come to do certain things that you think "Wowee, this is miles better than Windows", or "Oh I see, that is a smarter / sleeker / mor eeffective way to deal with that". I still have those moments now, and it's great |

Eh? Plug any old multi-button multi-wheel multi-widget mouse in, and it works just as expected. The Mighty Mouse that comes with the unit has right-click built in already. What 'support' are you looking for?
