It's probably GeekTool. On the topic of GeekTool, why hasn't 3.x gotten text shadowing back yet? Sheesh! It's hard to read my memory and uptime stats on light backgrounds. I need my shadows back.

I often stick with the graphite theme of the current OS, but I came across this online. My two favorite colors (orange and green) and abstract/techie enough to appeal. Also, I'm trying hard - for the first time ever - to do without the hard drive icon in the upper right. I know it's not necessary, but it's just something I've had/clicked on for 16-plus years (getting in the habit of just clicking the Finder face in the Dock, or hitting Command+N). Just my Time Machine backup is the only thing on my desktop.

I'm a bit of a clean freak...

Odd, I never did. Just went right to the site. I had to wait 60 seconds for the download to start, but that was the only "grr" or "uh-oh" part of it.

Very strange. This time around I didn't get it, and also the website looks completely different. Perhaps the website had been hacked before?

Jasoco, is that calendar Bowlet a custom one, or did you download it somewhere? Either way, would you mind sharing?

It's a constant work in progress and I wouldn't recommend using it as is. Edit it to fit your needs first. It's currently set up for exactly 1280x800 resolution so you'll have to fix the code that resizes the Bowlet and maybe move the calendar or remove it all together or whatever. I don't care.

Also you probably don't have the fonts I use. Google their names if you want them Qlassik is the one I use now. Otherwise it defaults to Helvetica Neue. If you change fonts you'll have to adjust the locations of things too as fonts are finicky.

Provided as is with no warranty or support. It's CSS, JavaScript and HTML. Google will help.

I can't remember where I got it. Probably deviantART? Regardless, it's awesome.

haha, I totally forgot about that! I was thinking about trying to find those eyes that would follow your cursor around from the menubar, though.

What memories of the classic System 7 days! I'd nearly forgotten about that gem too.

Welcome to AppleNova, FatChance!

A couple of other shortcuts you may like:
  • cmd-shift-3 takes a snapshot of the whole screen
  • cmd-shift-4 gives you crosshairs to select a portion of the screen
  • cmd-shift-4 and then spacebar lets you highlight and capture a window
By default, these all write a file to your desktop folder. If you hold also control when taking the snapshot, it'll put the image on your clipboard instead, allowing you to paste it into an image document in your editor of choice.
