Thanks! There are so many pics of flowers in here, I decided to do something different. I didn't seek out the geese, though; I was just walking to Housing (in the WRONG BUILDING, ugh) and on the way back from the wrong building, I found these little guys straying across the path. Thank the universe I had my camera! So I feel like it's okay I got totally misdirected, because I wasn't planning on at all being in this contest, but look, the universe provided me with baby geese!
...and then I got hissed at and had to bail, but, you know. "A blind, deaf, comatose, lobotomy patient could feel my anger!" - Darth Baras twitter ; amateur photographer ; fanfiction writer ; roleplayer and worldbuilder |

Nice shot Capella. I would have loved to get a shot like that for this months entry, but and we wont see babies around here till sometime next month.
Canadian Geese can be very nasty birds, be thankful all they did was hiss at you! |

I think this will end up being my official entry this month. I already posted this in the Baseball 2010 thread, but it's a photo of the instant that Joe Mauer hit his first home run in the brand new Target Field ballpark (even though it was only an exhibition game and therefore didn't really matter). Spring = outdoor activities, specifically baseball

After some searching, the best I can come up with is Southwold or Cromer

One more obvious hint: there is a disease with part of the city name...

It's Lyme Regis, the pearl of Dorset, with its ammonite lamp posts and the Cobb. Looks the same in the summer.

Didn't take long! I was just in automatic mode clicking away, trying to get some badass pictures, but for one of them, just by chance, I clicked the shutter about simultaneously with the trigger pull... and this was the result. One of the cooler pics I've taken.

That is nice. Every range I shoot at doesn't allow for pictures or videos.
Edit: So here's my shot of what I see in spring plus a runner up and bonus because I like them. Louis L'Amour, “To make democracy work, we must be a nation of participants, not simply observers. One more from me (though I'll stick with baseball for my official entry). I just began growing some Norway spruce seeds, with the intention of turning them into bonsai trees. I call this photo "Popping the Cork":

Am I blind or is there no edit button?
Anyway, I stick with my image I posted earlier. I had 2 other shots that fit the bill, but one looked so cold, and the other was yet another flower picture. I said to myself in the beginning of this competition "I won't do a floral shot, that's gonna be waay to standard" and I think I will keep my promise to myself I'll post both later in the color photo sharing thread later when I have time |

Hmm, I think I got what I asked for ... Lots of interesting and very different interpretations of spring. Makes it awfully hard to choose only one winner.
3rd place is a tie between Chinney's fern and turtle's bee. For both shots, my first thought was "spring". 2nd place: Billybobsky's british spring: I like the composition that sucks you into the picture. Not to forget the tongue in cheek reference to the stereotype of british weather... And the winner is .... Brad's battery of drugs - A fresh interpretation of the spring theme. I like it how the backlight gives an ominous glow to the drug bottles. As the shot is only illuminated by the lamp, I somehow get the impression that poor Brad even has a sun allergy ... Honorable mention: Noel's Baseball shot: Cool action shot with perfect timing. Unfortunately (at least for me as someone who doesn't know much about baseball), the connection to spring is a bit far fetched, compared to some other entries. evan's Shooter: Same reasoning: Interesting shot with perfect timing, but it doesn't push my 'spring' button. Capella's baby geese: Extra points for the cuteness factor! My photos @ flickr The man who trades freedom for security does not deserve nor will he ever receive either. -- Benjamin Franklin |

Wow! That was unexpected! Thanks for the vote of confidence, GSpotter. I'll think up a good subject for next 30-day period and post a new challenge thread shortly.
Fortunately, the allergies have eased off a little this week. Boy... though... for a good two-week period it was brutal here. Thick clouds of pollen literally swirling up in little dust devils. Cars and streets and doors coated in a fine yellow powder. Massive clumps of pollen sprigs by the side. My personal favorite of the bunch. Lots of points for the "AWWWW" factor here.
