It's out. Additions according to the wiki:
• Weather (rain, snow, thunder) • Statistics • Achievements • Detector rail • Booster rail • Birch and spruce saplings • Performance improvements • If a lightning hits a pig, it becomes a Zombie Pigman • New settings in options: - Ability to change GUI size (Small, Normal, Large, Auto) - Advanced OpenGL (For higher-end graphics cards) Also @_jeb tweeted something about shift+clicking an item will add/remove it from inventory/chest, which is a nice thing. So it goes. |

Some of those sound pretty cool. Shame we have to hold off on updating. Zombie pigmen just sounds like a fun time!

I don't mind waiting a bit to update. With the way bugs are introduced in these updates I wouldn't be surprised to hear of entire worlds set aflame by lightning.
So it goes. |

Oh yeah, good point! Kinda forgot about that. Having to put my creeper wall back up all the time would suck.
From what I read, when the lightning sets it ablaze the rain is supposed to put it out limiting the effect of the lighting...so I've read. Minecraft boosters?!? Does this mean..... Monorail???
I will gladly lend assistance to the construction of a server-wide monorail. I have plenty of gold for boosters. |

I wouldn't get too excited yet. The mere presence of boosters doesn't necessarily mean we can build networks of monorails on the server. Minecarts and boats both add significant load to the server, and unless notch and co. have made some significant optimizations server-side, we should continue to minimize their use.

So does absolutely everyone that plays SMP have trouble with boats and minecarts? Curious to know.
We have enough RAM and apparently a fast CPU now. Is the bottleneck simply Notch's shitty code? |

I do have a test facility built already in hopes of being able to use mass transit one day.

They are a no-go on my internet connection... Its faster to warp anyway, and probably less taxing on the server...

I hope so too. I'd hate for us to have thrown money at a home server only to make it mildly more adequate. Especially when there are other options.
So it goes. |

Well, the home server is actually not a home server, just a server in a home.
I'm with you though in that I'd hate for us to put money in and never be able to do some of this other fun stuff. Really though, I'd say this is one of the best servers to be on that doesn't cost extra. Lenny is a beast now. And really can handle a lot of action. Well, it's a Dell R300 with a Xeon X5260 with 4GB of RAM. We only use about half, if that, of that RAM.
So, not your typical home server. Louis L'Amour, “To make democracy work, we must be a nation of participants, not simply observers. One who does not vote has no right to complain.” Visit our archived Minecraft world! | Maybe someday I'll proof read, until then deal with it. |

Looks like 1.5 server is buggy. I'm trying it locally to evaluate before upgrading the server. First bug I've encountered is that achievements just plain don't work. Worse, because they don't work, I have this "helpful" popup on the top-right of the screen all of the time.
Oh, notch... edit: Oh, according to the wiki: Quote:

Also, the rumor about ladders not working unless they're contiguous? Completely true. Better start filling those gaps now guys.

So maybe we should just skip this update on our server until the glass part gets fixed at least. I know a bunch of us use glass...
