So far, I am loving this new iMac and everything about it. I am having one problem, however, that I think may have migrated over from my old machine. I posted about it in another thread but haven't gotten any response, so since it's part of the story here, I'll copy it below -- please help! Thank you!!!

It seems I have to re-install Flash Player 9 before opening/using a browser (Safari, Firefox, Explorer) EVERY TIME.

Yes, every time I open up Safari or Firefox, where a flash movie/ad would be (anything from youtube to random ads/videos) instead there appears only a big "Q" with a big "?" superimposed on it. The only way to prevent this is by re-installing Flash Player before I open the browser. Every time.

I am on a brand new 24" imac, but this problem migrated over from my old imac (thought it would go away with the new computer).

Can someone smarter than me please tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thank you!!!

Figured it out... it involved MIME settings and making sure that Flash was clicked OFF... who woulda thunk it?

Good call. I've used FCP on the 20" and the 24", and aside from the fact that the 24" has both a larger and better screen, the extra CPU speed, and especially, the extra graphics horsepower (Radeon 2400 vs. 2600) really makes a difference. FCP is smooth as silk on the 24".

Thanks and yes - you couldn't be more right. I am in love with this screen and with the way my Final Cut is running. It's like I was in the dark ages before. Night and day.

This is your reward for immediate gratification - aren't you glad you didn't "wait for Leopard"?

YES.

It might have been more prudent financially to wait, but (a) I don't NEED Leopard and don't have to buy it right when it comes out, and (b) most importantly, it dawned on me that right now is when I have the time to immerse myself in a new computer and get it up and running, familiarize myself, and work on all the projects I want to for myself -- not in late October/early November, because I will be much more busy then, not have time for set-up/fun, and will want the computer to be totally where I want it so I can work on stuff I'm actually getting paid for. Once I realized that last week was the best time for me to get it, and then found that deal, Leopard became irrelevant. And as long as Leopard wasn't announced on the very next day after my purchase (which it obviously wasn't), I knew I'd be happy with my decision. I had passed the point of no return, and now that I'm typing this on my awesome, awesome new iMac, I can't believe I waited as long as I did.

Long live Apple!

Of course is Leopard is released within 14 days of a new Mac purchase you get a free copy....

Isn't looking likely, though. Sorry!

I picked up a new, not demo Oct 2006 model (just proceeding the current aluminum iMac)
2.0mhz/160gb HD, 2gb RAM, IDC from Best buy, for $950.
Fast as hell-couldnt be happier...

Don't buy an Imac until they get the freezing issues resolved. You will be stuck with a $2500 paper weight.

Well, I just got off the phone with Apple and learned that if you bought Leopard anytime from Oct. 1st onward, you can get Leopard for $9.95. Since I bought on Oct. 2nd, I'm pretty excited about this. Just ordered Leopard! And I still love my iMac!!!
