I have installed X11 and xfig, the latter from fink.
The installation seemed to proceed normally, and there is
a lot of stuff in /sw/share/xfig, as would be expected.
I open an xterm window and type xfig and get:

bash: xfig: command not found

I type man xfig and get:

No manual entry for xfig

I open a terminal window and type man xfig, and get a lot of
information. Any suggestions on what to do?
Is there some setup that I should use before using
the xterm window? Why does the xterm window not recognize xfig?

Maybe in xterm
cd /sw/share/xfig
./xfig ?

If you do not have a path set up, you need to specify a path. If that doesn't work, do a list, "ls", and see if xfig has an extension.

Thanks for the hint, AC. I discovered the executable file in /sw/bin/xfig .
