Guys..
now I know M$ Windows has it's blue screen of death.. but lately I've been experiencing my own blue screen on the Mac

Often time throughout the day I'll be working happily along and then all of a sudden everything goes blue (like startup screen blue), pauses for a second or two and then flashes back to my desktop. Something I thought was pretty much random and didn't pay too much time to, until it started increasing its frequency; it'd have multiple times where it would go to the blue screen then come back then blue screen then come back to the normal desktop.

I've captured it on camera so you can see what I mean and how its manifesting itself:

If anyone can help me shed some light in this situation, it would be much appreciated!

Not that I have any answers, but it might be helpful to know your config - which version of OS X, what model Mac you have, etc.

You know, it almost looks like it's checking for displays.

I'd agree, especially with the way the blue screen fades out at the end. It's almost exactly like the display search blue screen.

hey guys, sorry I should have listed my specs :P

2.0Ghz Powermac G5
2.5GB Ram
additional 300GB internal HDD
Dual monitor setup -
Dell 24" LCD monitor via DVI out
Apple 21" CRT monitor via DVI to DSUB out

Now that you say it looks akin to the the monitor detection thingy, I'm thinking the same thing as well. I've checked all my cables and turned the handles tighter to make sure it's alright - will see if it occurs again; here I was thinking my mac was going awry and I wanted to format my system! heh
