Some could have though that Apple will take the first opportunity to stop using G4 processor or Freescale products. It seems that the reality is different. Freescale employees (Freescale being the new name of Motorola semiconductor division) have received a message...hereafter is a part of it:

...What: A custom Apple store has been setup specifically for Freescale including many of Apple's best selling products. Buy the latest Apple technology, from iPods to iMacs, at a discount with Freescale's Apple Employee Purchase Program (EPP)!
How: Create your own personal account to buy Apple products at http://www.apple.com/eppstore/freescale . Savings will be reflected upon final checkout for all Mac promotional purchases and pricing shown reflects EPP discounts.
Who: Freescale employees in the U.S.
Why: Apple acknowledges its strong partnership with Freescale and extends this offer as a way of saying thanks.

In summary Apple is proposing special price on Apple products to Freescale employees to acknowledge an strong partnership...so it is hard to imagine that Apple is proposing such advantages to stop it in few month...

Very cool find, and an interesting development, if it is to be considered one.

I work for the Tribune corporation, and all Tribune employees have access to the special Tribune Apple Store, and we can get discounts on Apple stuff too. I mean I agree that it's a good thing in general with Freescale, but it's not a particularly unique situation. Any company of any decent size can get their own personalized Apple Store.

About the same discount as education. USD$224 cheaper for the stock 17"PB

Wonder if it chaps Freescale's butt that it's employees might all want IBM-fabbed G5s.

I haven't seen any evidence of that, but some how I doubt it. The titanium powerbooks seem to be popular. I myself just ordered my first apple computer ever, the Mac Mini which I hope to have in my hot little hands around Feb. 11th. Course that's Freescale's G4.

This is no big deal - these are the exact same discounts I get as an employee at the company where I work. Apple has quite a few of these custom stores.

If you replace "freescale" in the link with other company names, you can get to their EPP pages. Names like cox, tribune, sbc, and adobe work. Apparently SBC employees get to pay more than anyone else. Also, if you work for microsoft, you've got your own EPP page: http://www.apple.com/eppstore/microsoft

The discounts are pretty good, and it is clear that certain companies get larger discounts than others. If you notice, even Applecare is discounted in certain "company" stores.

Ok, what is the difference for the new 15" powerbook on student developer discount vs regular education? Or i guess what is the price rather. Trying to decide if its worth it.
