Oddly enough only two of the recalls have been for physical parts, engine fire recall (fix not released yet), and hybrid inverter to 12v battery charge cable. The other six are all software bugs. Most of the software stuff is just puzzling. Surely Ford has been making charging software for 12v batteries for, what the last 30+ years? How do you mess that up? The 7th recall was for the instrument cluster, which can sometimes just go blank, another software fix apparently, but that hasn't happened to me. I did 3 recalls in November, now I'm three behind since then. I'm just dreading how many days it will be at the dealership to get this done. It took three days the last time they did two software updates.

I love that my truck can do software recall updates OTA. I have a first gen of mine and haven't had any physical recalls. It just downloads the update while you're driving then when you stop, it installs it. Easy peezy.

I would hate a dealer trip just to do a software fix on a car.

I love the fact when Tesla's are "recalled" due to a software issue, the update is installed well before I actually get the recall notice and sometimes before even the media picks it up.

With software becoming more of a thing in cars these days, I would expect more "recalls" like this to occur. It's nothing I fret or judge an automaker by if a recall is simply a software patch. Barring the underlying issue isn't critical like the car shutting down due to the bug.

While I enjoy the features many of these software based solutions provide, I cringe thinking about my car being bricked at the whim of someone in power to push the update.

We only get infotainment system updates OTA. Any modules, like ABS, PCM, BCM, and such need a physical plug in with Ford dealership software. Likely part of Ford’s contract with the dealers to keep people coming to them. I swear Ford dealerships are the worst.

I never knew my truck had it until I had a popup on the infotainment one day. Then like 2-3 weeks later I got a letter in the mail about the recall.
