I'm sorry to hear that you didn't go as far with NaNo as you'd hoped, but I don't see it as a failure at all; if you've only written 142 words, that's one 142 more than what you'd normally have written, right?

Believe me, I know what it's like to feel the strain of writing, but I think that the key is to write something you really feel passionate about. My first attempt at NaNo last year was something I'd been meaning to write for years but never had the guts to really attempt, and when I finally did start to write it, it was surprisingly really fun to do. This year, it was hellish trying to write, and I spent weeks in a state where I didn't even want to look at what I was doing.

But cheer up! Script Frenzy is in April. There's also an unofficial "NaNoWriYe" that some people on the NaNo boards are doing, where they're trying to extend NaNo to a whole year.

"The things that will destroy us are: politics without principle; pleasure without conscience; wealth without work; knowledge without character business without morality; science without humanity; and worship without sacrifice."
- Mahatma Gandhi
