For a really long time, I've been using Imagewell by Xtralean to do screenshots, add annotations and upload them to the web. I like it a lot..

...but...

It appears the software is abandoned. No updates in several years, and the locations it will upload to are getting outdated. (iDisk, anyone?)

What I really want is a new version of Imagewell that uploads to Imgur, or some clever settings that allow my existing Imagewell to send to Imgur.

Any ideas? Or "similar" suggestions?

I'm not familiar with what you are using at all. Screencloud is an app I've used that has upload option but doesn't give annotation options. It does allow external hosting of images though. Worth looking at. Dropbox does it too now.
