iMac 600 Mhz, 512 MB, OSX 10.2.8. Three users. After a year of enjoying using the iMac, one of the three users can't log on anymore. After feeding the password the computer starts logging on, but that process never ends (always the log on screen). We have to shut down the computer manually. The other users can just log on and use the iMac without problems.
The user also had other problems for a few months: couln'd use Safari and iTunes any more. Other users don't have problems with Safari and iTunes. So of course reinstalling didn't work. But now this user can't log on as well, making the other problems futile for the moment. I used DiskWarrior, who did a good battle and mended many errors, but still we can't log on for this user. I might do a clean reinstall of the whole system, but that destroys all the files of the three users. So a second question is: how can I save the files of the trouble user on a Cd RW when logged on as another user? |

Take the user who has problems and dump their cache and preference files. Sounds like a corrupted doc for that user isn't loading.
