Does anyone know when the ipods will be in stores like Circuit City or Best Buy? Sorry if it's already been asked...

Which ones? I've already seen nanos and shuffles, and I know a guy who works at Best Buy who bought a classic at his store yesterday.

I wonder when the touch will be there. I was thinking about buying one from online, but I might just wait and get it at the store.

I was thinking the Classic 160gb. I've called a couple Best Buys and they're not sure so I was wondering if anyone else knew. Thanks for the help.

All I can say is that I picked up a red 8GB nano yesterday at my local Apple Store. Love the larger screen, updated functionality, and finish. But the shape is rather odd and not as comfortable to hold as the previous, narrower nano.

I've been waiting for a true sub-PowerBook for more than 10 years. The 11-inch MacBook Air finally delivers on all counts! It beats the hell out of both my PowerBook 2400c and my 12-inch PowerBook G4 -- no contest whatsoever.

I was able to find the 160gb Classic at a Best Buy. One store near me had none and another had one. The Classic is almost the same as my 60gb but the Classic is a lot heavier. It feels a lot less fragile and the screen is tougher too.

I stopped by my local Circuit City a few days ago; officially, to look at cameras with my sister (her birthday is next month) but unofficially, to check out the new iPods. They had the classics in boxes, but they didn't have any other iPod (save a silver shuffle) and they didn't have any you could actually...play with.

and i guess i've known it all along / the truth is, you have to be soft to be strong

Our Target had a full color palette of the new nanos in stock. The had the old nano display box above the cabinet, so it was easy to get visual comparison. Sadly, there was no-touchy!

I think I like the new design - except I wish it didn't have the chrome back. The screen on this is drastically bigger than the previous version, and as a result, they had to make the unit wider. And just making the old nano wider would not have looked good, so I can undestand why the had to make it shorter. From what I could see, the 'pooch' looked fine - much, much, much better then the totally flat faced, ugly as sin 5G iPods - truly the ugliest iPod ever made.

Well, I finally saw them in person today. If they're in stores here, they should definitely be over there.

Anyway, I wasn't blown away but I certainly don't think they're ugly. Not impressed by the split-screen / cover flow interface though, as I expected.

You had me at asl

You're deranged. And quite possibly in need of an eye exam.

No, my eyes are in excellent shape - 20/20 uncorrected.

Deranged?? Sure - but still not wrong on this subject.
