So I'm outside running the dogs for a bit this morning... and I hear this loud rumble. I hear someone say "OMG I hope I can get it out" (I know what you're thinking, the set of a porno movie, right? no...). So I look over and behind the picket fence there's a guy - I shit you not - riding one of those huge industrial mowers they cut corporate park lawns and football fields with, cutting a lawn that's literally about the size of a typical four car driveway.

It would take a 12 year old about 10 minutes to cut this lawn with a push mower. I mean the guy was having a hard time turning inside the corners of this yard. It was just retarded. Then at the end... he gets stuck between the fence posts trying to get out and his buddy has to push.

Check it.

Hey Mods, I decided on a better title

"Stupid is as Stupid Does, Forrest"

I was poking fun at people who want to act like they have more money than they do, but really it's just about stupidity when you get down to it. Everyone feel free to roll their own, as it were. I'm sure I'm not the only one with suburban comedy gold to share.

I always get a weird kick out of people who look like they don't have a pot to pee in, YET will have either a) the most tricked-out, modern cell phone imaginable, b) a stereo in their car that's worth 5-8x more than the car ever was or c) a satellite dish on the roof of a house that looks like it's going to collapse any moment due to neglect and disrepair (the house, not the dish!).

I always chuckle to myself on those...and I see them just about every day.

Priorities, people.

Feed and clothe your children, then yourselves, properly. Pay your bills so you don't have to go to these auto title loan places. Pull your life together in general on the important, meaningful stuff. THEN you can worry about gold-plated 22" rims on your '82 Tercel or buying 10 cartons of cigarettes because "it's the weekend".

No doubt we could fill a separate Nova forum on the topic of POS cars with $4000 rims and custom muffler systems. Oh and don't forget the silver/white/translucent tail-light sets!

I love that when I drive by trailor parks at least 75% of the trailors will have satellite dishes on them.

That's at least $50 to $75 a month that's being blown on TV. That much a month over 5 years or so could make a huge difference for most people.

Well... from the image, it looks like the dude is doubly stupid for trying to cut lawns while apparently riding a Gas BBQ

I'm reminded of something else that pisses me off... people who get in their car and drive to the gym. Especially when the gym is less than a mile away. Surely walking, or even running to the gym would be better for you and the environment!? Similarly, people who walk out of the gym and then light up a cigarette. Some people need to get a grip and look at the bigger picture. *Sigh*

Its kind of like people who buy a PowerMac with 2 30 inch monitors to then surf the web and edit their blog.

If they've got the money and means, then God bless 'em. Why do I care? I also don't get mad at people for buying SUVs, so my viewpoint might be a bit skewed on such things from some of you here...

No just them. Had to point that out, didn't you?

I play fetch with them basically. Throw a ball and frisbee around for a half hour to let them blow off some steam, every morning and every night.

In general I despise jogging but you are correct that I should be exercising with them. I need to get a bike (although that wouldn't be with them). My better half has been telling me to get one of those hyrbid mountain / street bike things for a long time so we can take them to the local natural trails every weekend and do something outdoors together. Just never seem to have the money to spare. Although I suppose if I stopped buying books and movies and such from Amazon for six or either months, I'd have enough to buy a decent bike. All my expendable income seems to go elsewhere though.

You know... Amazon.......... rims for my car... airfoil wing for my lawnmower... the vital stuff.

At the triathlon I raced in I was laughing at all these people with $1000+ racing bikes made of carbon fiber ( that weighed like 4lbs) but they themselves were overweight! I mean, what good is a four pound bike going to do you if you are packing an extra 20lbs of fat?!

Heheheh. Yah we have Lance Armstrong disease around here too. Most summer days I see some weenie riding some tricked out road cycle with the full team gear, alien helmet, etc. They are so clearly not experienced cyclists that you can see some of them don't even have their seat at the correct elevation for leg extension. Wannabes in every sense of the word.

[Devils advocate]But why carry more weight than you have to? [/advocate]

Overkill can be part of the fun. I play Xbox on the screen at work: 10m wide and 7m high.....

My gym is on 2 levels. First level is cardio stuff, second level is weights. There is an elevator and a set of stairs next to each other. I've seen people who spend 30-45 mins on a Stairmaster or ellipse machine and then take the elevator to the next level. Or...worse...they come out of the locker rooms on the first level and take the elevator. I guess their legs aren't strong enough to take them up the stairs...poor things...

Who knows? Maybe they have a fear of heights.

Or maybe they get some kind of weird pleasure out of pushing the elevator button.

Or some child-like kick out of riding the elevator.

Or maybe they like to fantasize about those in the elevator with them.

At least they're at the gym working out, right?

Maybe they're wearing skirts or tight pants and feel a little off about that pervert standing at the bottom of the stairs staring at people.

...damn...I thought that wearing sunglasses indoors would make it less obvious that I was perving chicks with nice butts in tight shorts...

All right, who's been spying on me?

Interesting! My gym is also a 24 Hour Fitness gym. I'm starting to think they got their asses sued for something-failure to provide accessibility for people too damn lazy to take the stairs.

I don't know, there were some days last year where I just killed myself in the squat rack... I probably would have used the escalator. I bet I looked pretty funny on the stairs using both arms on the railing and grunting.
