i know this is probably more of an O2 problem but i thought id ask here in case anybody knew anything.
basically i replaced my damaged iphone with a brand new one today (which O2 sent out to me). the woman on the phone said i may keep the SIM card should i wish to keep my number. which i did. everything was fine. i registered the new iphone with itunes etc, nothing much was needed. and then i even texted a friend something, and he also replied to me. then all of a sudden this evening at work i noticed there was no signal - "no service" in the top left corner. and even when i got home it was still the same and hasn't changed since. anybody know what might be up? |

Can't help you, but when I moved from my 4GB iPhone to the 16GB one, I didn't have to change sims at all. I just plugged it in and everything worked.
I guess O2 is different. No more Twitter. It's Mastodon now. |

yeah well thats the thing. everything worked fine and i even managed to make a all and text somebody. but now all of a sudden my signal has completely gone. i mean, it may not have anything to do with the fact ive juct changed over, but i cant help thinking maybe it does.

I don't think there's a way to solve this without calling O2. They need to figure out if their system has started blocking your phone for some reason, and if, they can fix it. If not, they should be able to tell you what to do.

Is it possible the SIM card has gotten loose? Did you try re-seating the card?

This isn't iPhone related but, when ever you upgrade a normal phone you get a new SIM card and your operator transfers your old number to the new SIM card.
A new SIM card doesn't automatically mean you get a new number. Therefore i would phone O2 and see what SIM card they say you should be using. I had this problem a long time ago with an Orange phone, when i left the old SIM card in my new phone (then left to go on holiday) to find out Orange de-activated the old SIM card. Nice!! |

One of the earliest reported problems with the iPhone was that the SIM card could get a little loose, thus losing the network connection. You might want to try popping out the SIM card and putting it back in.
