Hi there,
Just got a MBP, and I'm doing a clean install... just adding exactly what I want (after many many years on a Mac, there's a lot of stuff I don't need). One thing I do need is Address Book. My question is, how can I duplicate it exactly on my new MBP?
'Sharing' only works if you have a .Mac account. I can get a 30 (or 60) day .Mac trial, if you recommend this as the best way. Or... is there another way?
Thanks for your help,
Malcolm

Uh... copy ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook

Pretty much done at that point.

Sounds extremely complicated... but I'll give it a try (!)
Thanks so much (glad you keep an eye on this forum - - you've helped me out many times before)

Or in the original Address Book [assuming you still have it?]

File>Export>Address Book Archive and save the file to an external HD

On the new MBP

File>Import>Address Book Archive and select the address book file from the HD

or... what Kickaha said

Thanks for this... but in my Address Book on my powerbook, I only seem to have the option (in File) of 'Export Group vCard'
Kickaha - - my Address Book (powerbook) has three ABPerson files, and three AddressBook.data files - - two of them aend with: '.data.beforesave' and '.data.previous' - - see what I mean about extra stuff I don't need... or don't THINK I need.
Should I get rid of these before copying into my new App. Support folder?

I'm in the middle of a massive digital spring cleaning of my own, but you might be taking it a little far here. I'd just do as 'Kickaha' suggested and then let AB sort the rest out. (The ".data.beforesave" and ".data.previous" files are internal AB back-up files, and while deleting them probably wouldn't hurt, or would just result in them being regenerated, I'd leave them for now.)

(BTW, I believe 'wecallitfall' was referring to the "Address Book Backup" command. At least, that's what it's called as of 10.4.11. Running that command will result in a complete back-up file of your entire Address Book, groups, etc.)
