That's never GOOD - and occasionally very BAD (archive & install, etc.)

That's one reason why I always wait to download the Combo standalone updater.

Eh. Didn't crash on second time.

Not sure what was up with the crash. Not in the main thread, either:
Code:
Thread 5 Crashed: 0 com.apple.Foundation 0x9262050b _NSRaiseError + 227 1 com.apple.Foundation 0x926472cb +[NSException raise:format:] + 57 2 com.apple.Foundation 0x926cf54a -[NSObject doesNotRecognizeSelector:] + 123 3 com.apple.Foundation 0x925f33d7 -[NSObject(NSForwardInvocation) forward::] + 184 4 libobjc.A.dylib 0x90a58ba1 _objc_msgForward + 49 5 ...le.SoftwareUpdate.framework 0x98968db1 -[SUOldScanController scanUsingFromUpdateNow:] + 443 6 ...le.SoftwareUpdate.framework 0x98969910 -[SUScan(Compatible) _scanMain:] + 280 7 com.apple.Foundation 0x925ed36c forkThreadForFunction + 123 8 libSystem.B.dylib 0x90023d87 _pthread_body + 84
Anyway, downloading. 99.4 MBs.

Nono, it crashed while searching for updates, not while trying to install 10.4.9.

Does this mean they're officially adding iChat USB support now?

99.4 MB here, too. I'll do this over the weekend when I have a bit more time.

There's an iPhoto update available as well (6.0.6). I'm not sure if this is new or not, though.

My Mac asplode.... smoldering parts everywhere, keyboard and monitor still intact. Something strange at work here... odd glow coming from the inside...

...wait... there's something moving. yes, definitely something moving now...

Is yours a combo updater, then? What version are you running now?

Hmm... interesting. I wonder if Spotlight is re-indexing your system files. Open Activity Monitor (Applications -> Utilities -> Activity Monitor) and tell us what you find.

Well, that just about confirms 10.5 for April.

I just finally got around to updating to 10.4.8 last week and I've been having sucktastic network problems since. Hopefully 10.4.9 will work some crazy voodoo magic on things.

Rebuilding Spotlight index?

(Guessing, I'm downloading at the moment)

Edit: I'm far too slow! I was, of course, responding to iCraig's post about eMac running slowly.

I think the question on everyone's mind is...

...do mail and iChat finally hide on startup?

And, being a long suffering MacAlly iceCam owner, it's nice to know that Apple will at long last support my camera in iChat - no more crash prone Yahoo! Messenger for me (though admittedly it has improved considerably lately).

Being able to finally natively use my iceCam in iChat almost makes up for the lead dev of VirtueDesktops throwing in the towel...almost...

Well that was a rough update.

Installed, hit restart, and iBook shut down. Did not restart. Waited a couple minutes and punched the power button and it started up. Boot to OS X for forever, and then the whole system was laggy for a couple minutes after boot finished.

Airport problem fixed, had to reconfigure the setting, which seemed to get boched during the update.

For once my MB and Mini had no issues with the update at all.

Is there a list of supported WebCams now? I would like to get one for my Mini I just have been refusing to pay the price for an iSight.
