I know this has been discussed here before, but the search doesn't find anything. So I have an iMac, which has three USB ports on the back. One for the keyboard, one for the mouse, and in my case, one for the printer. Luckily, the keyboard has two additional USB ports, which is very convenient - only they don't really work. When plugging in my USB thumbdrive, my Mac gives me the "USB Low Power Notice" finger. What could I plug in there that would require less power than a thumbdrive? Even the mouse with its bright LED must use more. Is there something that can be changed, or are those two keyboard ports effectively useless?

The mouse should run fine. Do you get a low power warning with it? Thats why the usb ports are there. Otherwise all you can do is plug it into a diffrent port.
LED's take so little power. I had a light with 8 LED's in it, and it ran fine off of USB. |

I plug my printer into one of the keyboard USB ports since it's (obviously) not bus powered, and I'm not particularly concerned that the printer is connected to a USB 1.1 port.
