Just a quick one, given that none of my display devices seem to give me any information on the incoming source.
Are MacBooks (mine for example) really capable of driving a full 1920x1080, at a progressive 50Hz or 60Hz? |

They do up to 1920x1200, so yes.

I thought Macbooks were 1280x800...
EDIT: Just looked at solstace profile. He got a Macbook Pro. Sorry, Chucker's right... again RE-EDIT: But if it isn't a a 17" MBP High Def, isn't it 1440x900 or 1680x1050 ? Dave Mustaine :"God created whammy bars for people who don't know how to solo." |

You're thinking of the laptop screen itself... I think the question refers to driving an external monitor, where both the MB and MBP can drive a Cinema display at 1920x1200 res.

Oups.
So the answer would definitely be yes then |

Bingo. As for the MacBook Pro, it actually does up to 2560x1600, so my answer was for the regular MacBook (or the MacBook Air, for that matter).

Awesome, thanks guys - didn't mean to kick off an argument though! I did mean an external monitor, yup. Sorry, I should have been more specific!
