I was watching an episode of the BBC comedy "Miranda" and the end credits used Billy Joel's song "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant", which I hadn't heard in forever.

Such narrative, songs used to have.
I prefer songs that go somewhere and tell a story.

Delìrium Còrdia.

74 minutes of sound. Ever wanted to know what surgery without anesthetic would sound like? This is the song for you!

18 minutes in and wondering if this bottle of single malt will suffice.

I've been listening to the WWOZ streams all day, this is a day I would have loved to have been at JazzFest.

Of Monsters and Men, Lakehouse. They remind me some of Beach House without the 80's tinge combined with The XX without the techno feel. I approve.

Let me know when you've had it in your head for a week. Soppy Aussie-Flemish weirdness... I guess there's just enough musical complexity there to make it catchy as get-out.

For no other reason than I tripped over it (literally, I have the CD) and forgot how utterly fantastic is was: Beaucoup Fish

Holy fucking shit. I would recommend anyone to just put this on and take a seat. Lay back and enjoy. I'm serious.

Grey approved.

So it goes.

Summer jams for me thus far have been Trust: TRST and Light Asylum. Both bands remind me of New Order, maybe a little more poppy. Very catchy.

On the metal front, the new High on Fire album De Vermis Mysteriis is (of course) awesome.

Dirty Projectors — Swing Lo Magellan (the album, of which one song shares that title)

Amazing. It takes 4 or 5 listens to really click, but once it does... Wow.

A song:

This trailer is a good sample of the whole album:

This album is too intense to do a proper review. Basically, if you know El-P, you'll love it.

If you don't, by the fifth song it will take the soul out of your body, crumple it up like a used Cheetos bag, then throw it in a piss-stained alleyway. It may even do a heel-turn in the piss just because.

Yes. It's that fucking good.

So it goes.

!!!

I ham squee.

I recently read an article about her 6-ish year disappearance, and she pretty much said, "Hey, I had a good few years with a boyfriend, was working on an album and wanted to play all my own instruments, even if I don't know what in the fuck I'm doing"

Yes. She plays everything on this. "Just plug it in and I'll figure it out" - OMG ROWR.

[edit]: such a nice article.

So it goes.
