So my PowerBook's hard drive died yesterday, and I'm stuck using my old Powermac G3 233 running System 9 and 384 megs of RAM for the weekend (or maybe until mid-next week, if I'm unlucky). Right now I'm using iCab to browse around AppleNova/the rest of the web, and it's painfully slow. Any suggestions on a nice, fast browser that I can use for the time being?

Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.1.7? Seems like a decent browser for OS 9, though I wouldn't know if it's faster than iCab.

You can get Mozilla 1.3.1 for Mac OS 9. It's a little old, but its standards support and features are much better than Internet Explorer.

Since you're using iCab, be sure you have the 3.0 beta. The 3.0 branch has far superior CSS support over the old 2.x versions.

Yeah, I'm using iCab 3.0. I'll give Mozilla a try though, and see how well that runs.

Edit: Mozilla is definitely faster than iCab. Uses less memory, too.
