So I did start to go to the casino last night but realized I'd left my slimeballs at home. However, it's a short trip over from Barfing Skull Falls, so I'll try again very soon.
Turtle and I were given a complete tour of Rowdy's new bar and I have to say that I am now TERRIFIED of going into one of these in real life. I've shot in one of Atlanta's more famous gay bars back in the 90s and danced there with a girl from college after a party, but the things in Rowdy's VERY DETAILED bar (like the requirement to change out into leather chaps) would poleax me in real life!!! I'm still having fun carving away at my little beach project, but I think that BP should have equal time with a strip club if anyone else is more motivated to move on this than me. Don't forget the champagne room, the stripper poles or the little creeper in the restroom who hands you a paper towel and expects a tip. Haven't seen many of you on in great quantities during the week, figure might be more of you over the weekend. [EDIT] Oh!!! By the way, is it now safe for the server if we use boats? Just curious. ... |

Well, the dress code *does* allow one to be shirtless, too. That is NOT true of all leather bars, however. The strictest one to which I've been (The Eagle in Toronto) required chaps, denim jeans, leather jeans, or a jockstrap. Top was either shirtless, denim, or leather. Ones that strict are rare, though dress code is typically enforced at most to be wearing leather (anywhere other than regular shoes) or requiring one to be shirtless.

I'm in full-on *project finish* mode for the foreseeable future. I got a little sidetracked with the rails and all (as most of us did) but my plan is to finish the gherkin first then move on down the list. I finished the railings on the skywalks earlier this week, which was a nice one to cross off, but I have about a dozen more I need to get done before starting my new project (which I'm still on the fence about... . I wish we had quarter-stone (or 1/8th stone - however you want to look at it)). I'm working on the pool now, at Robo's behest. So it goes. |

So if anyone wants to come gamble, right now is a GREAT time to do so since I am shitfaced and will likely be giving out free slimeballs.

I've been trying to get some balance with respect to work/personal life/minecraft, so I took off last night and am forcing myself to quit when i get bored of doing a task.

We have our first big winner! Drew came in and put 10 on the first column and won 30 slimeballs, which I rounded up to 4 diamonds!

Okay so grey just won HUGE. Bet 2 slimeballs on 13 and what do you know, 13 comes up. Now I'm out 7 diamonds
[EDIT] AND THEN HE WON AGAIN! IM OUT 15 DIAMONDS! Robo won 7 diamonds too. I need to rig this thing better. Overall I'm out 24 diamonds and I'm only up 2, so everyone better come lose some money! I had no idea you were all so lucky. Logic, logic, logic. Logic is the beginning of wisdom, Valeris, not the end. Last edited by Kraetos : 2011-05-14 at 01:04. |

And all of those bets were on 13. (Grey also won another single number bet, on 3 I think.) Needless to say, Friday the 13th was only unlucky for Kraetos.

That was loads of fun tonight.
Funny thing was that Robo offered me his slimeball stash at first, and I said "Thanks, but I plan on winning big tonight." Then Robo came in later with said stash and played it like a boss. Seriously. Piles of fun was had by all. Lucky 13! The random number generator is awesome. It's especially cool to see the binary equivalent on the betting signs. So it goes. |

I have to say I like taking diamonds and giving slime balls more than I like taking slime balls and giving diamonds.

I planned on only making a small bet and then heading home, at first. I thought about making a bet on 13, probably would have if I knew that grey had bet on it, but I didn't, and so of course it gets picked. I was still smarting when I left to use the restroom and when I got back to my computer, grey had won on 13 again. That's when I knew I had to go back to the casino. Luckily, the machine drew 13 one more time, so I didn't feel like a total fool. Yay for diamonds! and i guess i've known it all along / the truth is, you have to be soft to be strong |

OK, I need some color-picking help for the floors of the gherkin. It's totally holding me up.
I think I want to do cool/warm/cool/warm/etc for the 6 floors that get divided into rooms. The top floor (dirt now) will be black and grey. You can see what I've got going on here now (light green+yellow, red+orange), but I'm stuck on the combos for the remaining 4 floors: I'm going to keep the pattern for each floor, so when they get divided up into 4 rooms the rectangle acts as a "rug" of sorts. I finished the pool/hot tub area though. I think it's fun. So it goes. |

Blue-light blue, green-lime, cyan-white, magenta-pink?

colors (to be consistent with your light/dark combinations ie yellow+blue=light green; red+yellow=orange): blue-cyan; light-blue-purple; magenta-pink; green-cyan.
Goddamn it. I have just written a script to generate terrain for the skyranch using perlin noise; some tweaking needs to be done but most of all i have to figure out a way for it not to require twice as much dirt as I have on hand. Sigh. Last edited by billybobsky : 2011-05-17 at 00:04. |

Awesome. Thanks guys. I don't want to use white since the center around the elevator is white, and I'm not really a fan of the pink (at least the hue of it that's in-game), so I think I'll do this in keeping with the cool/warm thing: 3rd floor: light blue+blue; 4th floor magenta+purple; 5th floor cyan+green; 6th floor grey+brown (?); and the 7th floor will be completely black. I realized there's not as much carpet area as I first thought after I install the outer glass/glowstone ring around the edge. Sound good?
That's a lot of lapis though. So it goes. |

6th floor: I think I'd go with light grey, just to set it apart from the black above it and the brown beside it. |

See, I like the greenish tint to the cyan. I think it looks great next to sandstone (ala T's place downtown) and should fit with the cactus green nicely.
I tried both the grey and light light grey next to the brown, and they both look like butt. So the 6th floor is now light grey+grey. Looks nice, I think. I may try to add some brown to the black on the 7th floor depending on how much area there is. So it goes. |

I just found this old screenshot of my very first house in the server, from somewhere in the first week or so:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/412263/Minec...Birdgeport.png The best part to me, though, is that all that empty land to the left, across the water? That's where Bridgeport is today. I thought I was kind of cool to be able to see how even just that shoreline has changed. |

Question: Is there an image gallery someplace where we can see what paintings are available?

Yes. The Minecraft wiki on paintings has previews, sizes and descriptions. I wish we could use our own favorites

I don't think the MC one is right with our theme. I'm guessing that ours is different and in the zip theme.

OK, I guess someone needs to build an in-world art gallery. Man, I wish you got a selection screen when you placed one (similar to the sign creation screen, but with thumbnail previews to click on.)

That would be nice. It kinda sucks having to keep putting up and taking down just to get the one you want. It's worse when you're so in the habit of doing it that you take down the one you want up!
