Switching to mac soon
, but I am a little sad that iChat doesn't support ICQ or AIM. Would Apple have to pay royalty fees to include these features or do you think that we'll see them included in Tiger? |

I'm hoping for MSN support myself.
And no, they wouldn't need to pay royalty fees, 'cause otherwise Adium wouldn't exist (or at least wouldn't be free). |

Umm, iChat does support AIM, and through its OSCAR gateway, ICQ (in limited ways), too.
Microsoft does ask for royalties for third-parties to include MSN support, however, they have so far not fought against Libgaim's MSN implementation (which Adium, Proteus and others use). Trillian has, IIRC, paid Microsoft royalties. |

iChat AV is cool for some stuff, but if you aren't going to use the AV part then just go with something like Adium, I love it and all my friends are envious

What chucker said.
iChat's primary network is the AIM network. ICQ users are on the AIM network. |
