MacRumors just posted it with a look at the last time Apple.com teased up to MacWorld (2002). That year MacWorld brought a ton of goodies. Evidently Apple is getting ready to impress us.

That's a pretty cool, theatrical type of look. I like it.
Then again, I'd dig a picture of a pine cone on their home page if it meant not having to deal with that stupid "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" ad loading everytime. I was really hoping Apple - especially since the holidays are officially over - would put something else on their homepage, if only for a week (until MWSF). I got my wish. |

The image is really cool. I'm fascinated by its reference to "the first 30 years." It makes me wonder what they might be showing off next week that's out of the ordinary for Apple. The cliche is to say it's something phone related, but maybe we've totally missed something. |

Looks kind of like what might lead to this new "Illuminous" interface.

Interesting. That hadn't occurred to me, but you might be onto something. I personally believe we'll see a new interface in Leopard, so perhaps this is a hint.

That might be part of the whole, but simply a new interface isn't something that, IMO, would merit a statement about "the first 30 years." I honestly don't know what to expect next week and I think that's a good place to be.

Sorta 20th Century Fox-ish, isn't it?
[added] Actually, it's more 2001 Monolith-ish now that I think about it. (No, I don't think they're hinting at that specifically, or much in particular.) Last edited by BuonRotto : 2007-01-01 at 22:26. |

Is it just me that thinks you guys are reading too much into this and that, actually, they're just noting the passing of their landmark 30th year?

actually, they would be 8 months late if they were simply noting the passing. they are boldly comming out and saying that this year will blow the past 30 away

Bingo. Now let's just hope they don't supremely piss us off. Of course, many will be slightly disappointed by whatever is announced -- that's unavoidable.

Not to quibble semantics, but that's wrong. 2006 was the year in which they celebrated their 30th, and I was pointing out that they were noting the passing of that year. I'm happy you all seem to think it's a prelude to revolution, but they're hardly likely to say "2007: We're Aiming for Average" are they? Only Apple generate this much hype when they do things all companies do.

looks like a sunrise, i.e. the dawn of something new. probably as simple as new year, new products. i agree w/ spikeh that people are reading too much into it.

From a marketing point of view you control the message better if you set the tone at the beginning of a calendar year. Interesting that they didn't use last year, better late than never I s'pose.

I didn't get "movies" out of it either.
If they really mean "This year is going to blow the last 30 away", I'd hope they have more ammunition than just the iTV. You had me at asl ....... |

Now that I think about it, it would make a neat desktop background. Anyone good enough with Photoshop want to make a neat larger clone sans text?

This whole dark look from apple now, lots of blacks and stuff...
does anyone think that a website new look is on the cards soon? Maybe unveiling a new store at MWSF? |
